Book Scavenger by Jennifer Chambliss Bertman

For Kids And Adults Who Love Books

12-year-old Emily is moving to San Francisco, home of her literary idol: Garrison Griswold, creator of the online sensation, Book Scavenger, a game where books are hidden all over the world and clues to find them are revealed through puzzles. But Emily soon learns that Griswold has been attacked and is in a coma, and just before he was about to announce his new game. Then Emily and her new friend, James discover a strange book, which they believe belongs to Griswold and leads to a valuable prize. But there are others on the hunt for the book, and Emily and James must race to solve the puzzles Griswold left behind before the attackers come after them.

This is undeniably one of the best books I’ve ever read. This is book is for anyone who loves books, puzzles and/or San Francisco. The story takes you all around San Francisco. Well-known places like Pier 39 and Lombard Street. And lesser known places like the City Lights Bookstore and Dashiell Hammett’s Former Apartment.

The truly great thing about this is that Book Scavengers actually exists. Just look up ‘Book Scavengers’ online and you can participate in the game.
