Out Of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper

Hello fellow book lovers!
Welcome to Books, Books, and of more Books!
Sorry for the ridiculous title. It was too late to call it “Books for Life”.
I have read so many great books that my parents suggested I start a blog.
So I did.
Get ready for exciting books, scary books, heart wrenching books, enlightening books, children’s books, teen books and many more.
I would like to start this blog with one of the best books I’ve ever read and that I believe everyone should read.
Enjoy!
For Kids and Adults

This story is about a girl named Melody, who has photographic memory and is extremely smart, she even knows more than most adults. The only problem is she has a disease called cerebral palsy. She can't walk, talk, or even feed herself. For the first 12 years of her life, she has not been able to communicate with her parents or the doctors who try to diagnose her or the classmates who dismiss her as mentally challenged. When she is finally able to voice her thoughts and show how smart she is no one wants to believe it.

This is a book I think everyone should read. It shows that just because someone looks different on the outside, it doesn’t mean there isn’t more on the inside.

I couldn’t imagine living like Melody does. Being trapped in your own body and never being able to voice your thoughts and feelings. We take for granted our ability to walk and talk and do things on our own.

The one thing to know before reading this book is that it will make you feel. It will make you feel sad about the condition Melody is in and it will make you angry at the people who belittle her for how she looks and for what she can’t do. But then again, the best kinds of books are the ones that make you feel.
